COVID 19 — BE GONE!

As I write this Pastor Pen to you for the month of April, our nation…indeed our world… is gripped in an unprecedented pandemic, which has all but shut down the economy of the United States.

Many people are anxious. Food hoarding is rampant. Fear grips the souls of countless millions. And of this writing, things may get worse before they get better.

I’m hoping that at least we will be able to celebrate Easter together. But if not, our bond as family in Jesus Christ will be a comfort, even if we cannot be together for awhile.

The words of Paul in a letter to Timothy come to mind. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

As believers in the Good News of salvation, we can walk in faith. Read and absorb the words from the psalmist in Psalm 91: “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.’”

Do you really believe these words? Does God care for you and me? How do we make the Lord our refuge? How do we make the Most High our shelter? Notice the promise is that if we make Him our refuge and shelter, “no plague will come near your home.”

Right now pray with me. Say, “Dear Lord Jesus, help me to trust in you without doubt or fear. I place my whole life in your care. I do trust you for my well-being. Please protect my loved ones for your name’s sake. I love you. Increase my faith.” Amen

Dear ones. Please do not be anxious or afraid. We are the beloved of the Lord, his precious treasure…which he purchased with his own death on the cross! Do you really think he would let anything not in his perfect will for your life harm you? Not on your life! Praise Him! Bless His holy name! Thank him with all of your heart! Be blessed and favored forever!
